TOY STORY 3

Sunday, 4 July 2010

Fazli is a TOY STORY fan. Day and night, night and day, he would wake up to the animation of Toy Story. Yesterday we finally had the opportunity to watch this fabulous animation, saved our time from queuing at the ticket counter, we had purchased them two hours earlier online. That's what I call 'civilisation'. Apart from having fun watching it, on learn a lot of things from them such as:

1. Friends do part, but they stay together in their hearts.
2. The song "You've got a friend in me" says a thousand words.
3. wonderful, awful, experience of sharing a home, a history, and a heart.
4. Lotso serves his destiny right in front of the truck!
5. Our kids must learn to appreciate their toys.
6. The part when Andy leaves for college reminds Mama of how she had to pack her things- which goes where, before she left for the Uni. Until now when she goes back home to her parents', she still wonders what had happened to her stuffs.
7. A good deed deserves another. We thought they were all going to be burnt as we totally forgot about the aliens which were so obsessed with the CLAW...
8. We learned that Ken is a ROMEO! ahahhaha poor Barbie!
9. and not to forget, Spanish is a romantic language as well!!!

There are reasons to worry that our children today have less capacity for creative, bodily play, what with the prevalence of video and computer games and the sedentary lifestyles they encourage... huhuuhuh...

(feel free to add...)

The Fall

Sunday, 7 March 2010

It was on the 6th March 2010, Mama had just returned from a performance in USM when Fazli started climbing on a parked scooter. In a split second, he fell from the scooter into the drain and he also clung to a cactus pot. There it went, cactus thorns proudly standing on all over his arms. Blood was pouring down and Fairul, his uncle drove us to the Hospital Kepala Batas which is about 10 minutes from home. When we reached there, we were surprised that the hospital was almost noiseless. Fazli was attended in not more that 10 minutes but his treatment lasted for 20 minutes. The medical attendants were trying to get hold of him, made him calm down but after a few seconds he started crying out for help. It was not because of pain but it was because he did not like other people touching him. So five personnel including me, had to hold him as he was wrapped up in the blanket, yet he managed to get out if it!

He was not stitched, instead, his incision was glued using DERMABOND® followed by doctor's check up. Some details on DERMABOND®:

DERMABOND® is a liquid skin adhesive used by doctors to close wounds. It may not be appropriate for all wounds or skin surfaces such as eyes and mouth, or for people with certain skin sensitivities. It can be used on wounds in areas where skin is not being stretched or pulled; exterior, hair-free areas of the skin and areas not inside the mouth; the face, but not too close to the eyes.

And Mama found out that DERMABOND® is also appropriate for obstetric and gynecological surgeries, such as C-sections where excellent cosmetic outcomes are desired, as well as the ability for new mothers to shower immediately and move about without the discomfort of staples or sutures (sutures here means no stitches). Extracted from http://www.dermabond.com/product/index.html

This is how the wonder glue looks like (taken from www.cls-med.de/nahtmaterial/ethi...ber.html):

He ended up having fun watching the ambulance go by and he nonetheless was not even distracted by the cut. He's now back on his feet as if nothing ever happened.

New Year Kick-off

Goal!!!

We were at Assakhof's house when he saw the sports news, he would leave his toys and quickly sat in front of the box just to watch Bayern München played. Now at the age of 21 months, he could already kick a ball using his right leg while shouting in enthusiasm "Goal!"

Fascinating Melaka

Sunday, 29 November 2009

Papa was invited to be the official photographer for Flashpoint Paintball Challenge 2009 in Melaka. We had Opah, Wan, Uncle Din and Cudik tag along for a few days in Melaka and Kuala Lumpur. Although Mama comes from Melaka, she herself had not discovered this state thoroughly. And this was her only chance to get to know her hometown better! And also for Fazli to learn more about this historical city.

Too bad, Fazli was in deep sleep when we went on the Menara Taming Sari.

The Land below the Wind

Monday, 21 September 2009

Uncle Din and Cudik (Cudik is Papa's youngest sister) had another wedding reception in Lahad Datu in October 2009. We had made plans as early as in April 2009 to fly over to the Land Below the Wind.

And so we left Melaka in the wee hours to get to KLIA by 6am. Fazli and Farah were in their sleep again, after they were waken up at 4.30 in the morning. However, upon arrival at the airport both siblings are wide awake and Fazli was on his feet to check out the machines from a distance!

We boarded the plane at 7.15am and we are buckled up for this ride! Fazli, as usual, loved anything that has got to do with airplanes (reminded Mama of how she used to be so happy just to witness a Cessna flying across her rooftop when she was a child)

Kids would always want to sit by the window.
The flight lasted for 2.5 hours and as we arrived in
Sandakan Airport, Uncle Din and Cudik were already waiting for us.

We would like to convey our highest gratitude for the great hospitality and comfort that they (in Sandakan and Lahad Datu) have given us.

First hair cut

Mama's generation has been having their very first hair cut by Pak Salam who nearly as the same age as Atuk. Remembering where he used to have the salon or rather a parlour in the 70's, then it was moved to Jalan Hang Tuah near Klinik Fauzi in the 80's and later was moved again. Pak Salam is a family friend of Atuk and now he spends more time at home with his family while the parlour is just by the side of his house. Farah had her first hair cut on the seventh day after she was born. Fazli had not gotten his hair cut since he was born and due to Mama who is very persistent that she wanted only Pak Salam should do it for it was Fazli's introduction to coiffure!
